September 19, 2007 (2:42 AM) - The 3 to 5PM Eastern Time Special: A new special has been added! Sign up between 3 and 5 PM Eastern Time, and you don't have to fill out on of those surveys :) YIIPI. This is experimental. We might keep it forever, we might remove in a few days. We'll keep an eye on it, and see what happens :) More info here!

O and we've fixed a few profile page bugs!

September 8, 2007 (8:07 PM) - The bot is now back up, and when the bot goes down and we start the bot again, it sends all the profile view notifications it should have sent while it was down. (Of course the bot should not go down, so this should not be an issue, but it looks like there are some bugs right now) This means that you might have received IMs on AIM from the TrackMyProfile bot just now, even though no one viewed your profile just now. Apologies for this problem.

September 3, 2007 (2:24 AM) - Yey! The Profile Viewers Notification Bot is back up! We got it up about 7 and a half hours ago and it's still up, which is good sign! :)

September 2, 2007 (4:29 AM) - The bot is still down. :( But I have created a bot status page, where you can go to check the status of our bot trckmyprfl. We'll try to get the bot up soon. Sorry it's taking so long.

September 1, 2007 (4:00 PM) - The TrackMyProfile.com bot went down this morning. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why. Anyway, we're looking into it, and I'll try to get it back up ASAP. Sorry about this. I'll create a bot status page for you to see if the bot's online or offline. This way if we have a problem later on, you don't need to wait for a news post to realize that it's a problem with our TrackMyProfile.com bot.

July 24, 2007 (9:58 AM) - It's been nearly a year since the last news post. To be frankly honest, not THAT much has happened in terms of improvments of this site. We have added support for AIM Triton, and fixed some of the problems that occured when we trasitioned to a new server. There was also a quite long downtime during this time, which was caused by some major internal upgrades to the site (that is stuff you probably can't notice).

We have added some new tools and services for AIM though: We launched TrackMyProfile.com's NoForget which is an AIM Reminder system for birthday reminders, etc. We also launched AIM Counter which offers counters to put it in your profile.

AIM Counter only works in AIM 6.1 and up since it makes use of a new feature these newer versions offers.

October 10, 2006 (9:39 AM) - The domain y35.us which was used in the "My Buddies" links expired recently which is why the service was down yesterday. Sorry for the problems! Everything should be working now :)
(Note: The service may work irregularly for some people during the next 2 or 3 days or so until the domain finishes propagating, after this time it should work like normal)

September 4, 2006 (10:23 PM) - Yesterday, I got rid of some of that unnessary stuff on the home page to try making it a little less clutered... Hope it looks better now! :)

September 2, 2006 (5:06 PM) - No Ads in your main profile viewers page! Cheers! We no how annoying ads are especially on your main profile page. So, we've removed those ads... there are still a lot of ads on the other parts of this site though, since, well we still need some way to make money! Anyway, hope you like the cleaner looking ad-less main profile page!

May 21, 2006 (7:50 PM) - We have added advertisments for blogture.com on the profile pages and on the site! Check it out! Blogture.com has some great blogging services for free!

March 1, 2006 (4:08 PM) - I added a temporary ad above the reunion.com ad on your profile. This ad is for Blingo, a search engine which is basically giving away prizes if you're lucky enough to search at one of the randomly selected times. Blingo is not paying me to run the ad but Blingo also awards the person who referred someone else with a prize if the person they referred to Blingo wins. So if someone else registers an account with Blingo after clicking on the link in on of the profile pages, and then wins, I'll also get a prize :) Anyway, its temporary.

February 6, 2006 (6:22 PM) - When our tracker was first released it relied on the sub-browser provided by AOL in people's profiles. Recently though AOL removed the sub-browser feature in profiles, preventing a lot of AIM Trackers and other extensions, including this one, from working. AOL also started removing the equals (=) sign from urls in people's profiles. In order to deal with these problems we have made some changes to our AIM Profile Tracker and released these changes under version 2.0. Since this is a fairly drastic change we are requiring that all users register again and copy the new link into their profile (even if you have previously registered). The old links will no longer be functional. Everyone's profile views have also been reset. We're sorry for this inconvenience, but due to the changes AOL made we have decided to make these changes and require users to register once again (to ensure that our service runs properly). I would also like to apologize for the problems many users experienced that past few days (this again was a result of the changes made by AOL).

November 26, 2005 (11:40 AM) - I removed a lot of the unessacary text in the profiles, so the pages you see in the profiles that show the profile viewers list and the the more information pages that profile owners can see should look a lot "cleaner" now! :)

November 24, 2005 (2:18 PM) - I've just launched a forum! I know we had one a few months ago and then deleted it because no one was really using it....so I'll see how this one does. Anyway, you can access it by going to: http://www.trackmyprofile.com/forum/

November 23, 2005 (10:43 AM) - I just a launched another tracker - TrackMyBuddies.com which works with Gaim and Trillian (and other non-standard AIM clients). Its a lot harder to use though and required to logon to view more information... Its more customizable though, so there're some advantages and disadvantages. Try it out, and see which one your prefer. It's free ocfourse so you won't loose anything. I'd still reccomend sticking with this service for most people, but you can try the other one out if you want.

November 21, 2005 (11:14 PM) - I removed that "View Cool Offers" link that I recently added to profiles. Many people didn't seem to like it so I don't think I'll be adding it ever again (maybe ill put a small link on the bottom; but for now the View Cool Offers link has been completly removed).

November 18, 2005 (7:01 AM) - Quick Upgrade: I just signed up for Google Analytics, so I can collect better tracfic data (this upgrade won't make a difference to you).

November 13, 2005 (6:39 PM) - I've add some "cool" offers for you to check out. There's a link to them on the main profile viewers page (only profile owners can see the link though) that you see after clicking the link in your profile (its for registered users only). So far there is only one website, but I'll probably be adding more soon. Enjoy :)

November 10, 2005 (6:54 PM) - The cursor that appears in Internet Explorer (and possible some other browsers) changes from the deafult to a slight shade of blue when you're viewing the website. If you have a really bright monitor you might not be able to notice this upgrade, since it's an exteamly light shade of blue. It also doesn't work with most browsers. It works with Internet Explorer, but apart from that I don't know of any other browsers it works with.

Anyway, I might make some more small upgrades tommorow or duing the weekend but the next upgrade will probably be next month.

November 9, 2005 (5:22 PM) - I made a couple of very minor upgrades today. Here they are:
  • The scrollbar that you see while vieweing this site now appears in a different color for users of Internet Explorer, Opera, and some other browsers (it was intendended for users of all browsers, but only some browsers support it)
  • Made some slight changes to the Meta Tags (this doesnt change anything on the actual page)
  • Added Alternative Text for the image files that are links and for the TrackMyProfile.com title/slogan image (the alternative text usally appears before your browser finishes loading the image or if your browser is unable to load the image)

There's only one upgrade you'll really be able to notice right away (even that you would only be able to notice if you used internet explorer, opera, or certain other browsers).... Anyway, enjoy the upgrade(s)!

November 8, 2005 (11:11 AM) - I don't have school today, since its election day, so I've finally made some upgrades! Here they are!:
  • When Profile Viewers view your profile they can now see how many times they viewed your profile (they can't see how many times other people viewed your profile ofcourse; only profile owners can see this) in addition to the total number of profile views your profile has recived
  • Fixed bug that caused an error to appear saying the session had expired even when the session had not expired for users whose browser supports iframes but not frames
  • Slightly modified text on the main page
  • Slightly changed some of the text in the footer and the header (where it says Add This To Your Profile) on the main profile viewers page (some of the changes can only be seen by profile viewers)
Enjoy the upgrades!

October 31, 2005 (3:42 PM) - Happy Halloween! I signed up for Google Ads yesterday; I hope it brings some more users :) Also, I havn't really made any upgrades recently, but a few weeks ago I added a home page which gives a brief description of what this service does.... The next big upgrade will probably be late next month or in December, when I am planning to get a dedicated server which will improve page load speeds and allow the tracker to support users whose screen names have spaces. I may make some small upgrades in between, but there are probably not going to be any big upgrades before then. Anyway, have a happy Halloween :)

October 12, 2005 (12:17AM) - Well, if this isn't your first time coming to this website, you have probably already noticed the biggest upgrade! The website finally has a "professional look and feel". Actually I bought a template, but I made a fair bit of changes to the original template. I also lowered the quality and file size of the screenshots on the About page because they were taking way to long to load on slower internet connections, and also, due to the high file size, had some problems on Internet Explorer. I have also removed the index page, since I felt that was kind of unnecessary; I am considering making a separate home page though which gives a brief description and also has both the registration and new link options on it; that way people won't have to keep going to another page, if they prefer to access the main functions of the site from the home page. Also, as a quick note, if you're looking for some of the links and can no longer find them, they’re probably on the bottom; I decided to place all the not-as-important links on the bottom of the page, rather then using up space on the top. I hope everyone likes the new look! If you have any feedback on the new design, I'd appreciate it if you could submit a question/comment (there’s a link for that page on the bottom) so I could try and improve the website even further.

Apart from the new design, I have made some upgrades:

  • Fixed bug that cuased the index page to be improperly dispalyed in Opera
  • Added FAQ about how the information you enter on this site is ued

Enjoy the upgrades and new design!

October 5, 2005 (10:28 PM) - I added a Privacy Policy to the website and also changed some of the banner ads (I removed the Red Cross Huricane Katrina banner ads on the website and text ads on the pages viewed in aim profiles, since its been a while since the Hurricane occured). I also fixed an extreamly minor bug which sometimes cauesed an error to display for 1 or 2 seconds when you were registering a new user or getting the link/code for an existing user through the registration page.

October 5, 2005 (12:52 AM) - At last - upgrades!! LOL. I havn't made upgrades in a while. Anyway, I worked on the AIM Profile View Tracker a bit the past few days. Heres what Ive added/upgrade:
  • Added link on top of the profile viewers page that all profile veiwers can see, which, when clicked takes to user to trackmyprofile.com (Note: Profile Owners do see this link)
  • Made text on the page that displays the code you need to copy into your profile (which says to copy the code into your profile) more visible (and also fixed a spelling error in the text that appears for people have registered for the first time)
  • Fixed bugs in the Advanced View which caused options such as the sort setting, information shown setting, and the last specific view information you requested for a profile viewer to be incorrectly recorded (hence that option would not be selected by default the next time you accessed the Advanced View, and with the information shown setting the feature would always stay set to the default even if you changed it)
  • Fixed bug in Advanced View which caused there to be extra blank lines before the Time/Date and IP of a specific view when requesting information on a specific view in certain browsers including Interent Explorer and Opera
  • Improved alignment of bottom frames in Advanced View for profile owners viewing the Advanced View through Opera; the bottom frames now take up less room for Opera users
  • Fixed spelling of sponsors (I spelled it sponsers before) on the top navigation header
  • Fixed spelling errors in messages that appeared when you hide, unhide, or delete a profile viewer from the profile viewers list
  • Added support for Gaim and Trillian users (this is only on request though, so if you want to use AIM Profile View Tracker with Gaim or Trillian you will have to submit a query on the questions/comments page saying you would like to do so; the gaim/trillian users do not use the same link code as AIM users and we have to specially register them, meaning the normal registration would not work for gaim and trillian users)
  • The map that displays the location of profile viewers in the Advanced View is no longer displayed in the Opera browser, since Opera does not properly display parts of the map (instead the city, state, and country of the profile viewer are shown in text when using Opera)

Enjoy the upgrades! I've also placed some ads for this site on yahoo (aka overture)... it seems to be helping us get some new users! :)

September 17, 2005 (12:53 AM) - I drank some Vanilla Coke about an hour ago, which is why im still up on my laptop, LOL. Anyway, heres a list of upgrades the past days (well, i guess u could say the past few weeks):
  • Improved Advanced View session timeout so it now takes into account the last activity time - you session is now open for, in addition to 1 hour regardless of activity, up to 5 hours as long as you have atleast some activity every 30 minutes (activity means clicking something or refreshing the page in the advanced view)
  • Added Messages that appear when your Advanced View session has expired (I may have done this before, and just forget to make a news post about it....)
  • If the Basic sort setting is selected on the Sort Setting page in the Advanced View, the Current Setting now says "(Recommended)" next to basic
  • The Note on the sort setting page has been slightly modifyed to make it more clear
  • A Refresh button has been added on the Profile Viewers sidebar list which, when clicked refreshed the profile viewers list (this is so that you can check if anyone views your profile while you are viewing the advanced view)
  • If there are no commen viewers in the Advanced View with the person you are vieweing the information of and that person has not registered for TrackMyProfile.com in addition to saying None, it will also say that this person has not registered for TrackMyProfile.com (if the person has registered and there are no common viewers it will just say None, as it did before)
  • Fixed slight typo which caused two :s to appear after Users Recently Entered on the register and new code pages (if you recently entered any users and have cookies enabled) rather then one :
  • Added Clear List button for Users Recently Entered which clears the users recently entered list
  • Information on the ISP of profile viewers is now displayed in the Advanced View on the map if the Advanced sort setting is selected
  • Fixed bug which caused the help popup for the information shown setting in the Advanced View to be improprerly shown (the title was missing, and the text which was suppose to be in normal text and aligned to the left was bold and aligned to the center; the title was suppose to be this way)
  • Like most of the links in the Advanced View the links in the help popups now change color when you move your mouse over them
  • If your Advanced View session expires the session expired message will now display on the whole page rather then just one or more of the frames as it sometimes did before
  • If you open one of the frames individually in the Advanced View without the whole frameset you will be redirected to the frameset page (this prevents people from vieweing and opening individual frames in the Advanced View)
  • The help popups in the Advanced View can now be opened up even if your browser does not support javascript or javascript is disabled (the help page that is opened will not be resized to the proper size if javascript is disabled as it would be if javascript were enabled though)
  • Fixed bug which sometimes caused IP address of profile viewers' last view to be unknown if that profile viewer was deleted from your profile viewers list and then the delete was undone (using the undo option that appears after you delete a profile viewer)
  • Added Sponsers page which has different ads you can click on to help support this site

Enjoy the upgrades!

September 3, 2005 (12:40 AM) - Well, as far as upgrades I havnt done that many the past 2 days...but I'll start with those:
  • Added Random Tip that appears on the bottom of the index page (the first page you see when you go to trackmyprofile.com)
  • Fixed Alignment Issue on many of the pages (it caused the beginning sentences on some pages to be tabbed)

As far as non-upgrade things I did quite a bit. I added banner ads once again to the TrackMyProfile.com pages (well all of them except the index page) - this time using Commision Junction. I also added ads in the profile viewers pages (the ones you see in AIM) and the Advanced View...I guess thats one nice thing about Commision Junction that Google Ads didnt offer- I can place text link ads in the profile viewers pages. I also continued work on the Chance of Error system and starting working on a time zone thing. I'm also planning on adding a contests page which will have, well, contests...

Anyway, enjoy the upgrades! :)

August 31, 2005 (11:16 PM) - I havn't made that many upgrades the past few days, but I thought I should just make a post about the upgrades I have made lately:
  • Next to the City Name in the location information in the Advanced View, if the city is a state capital it will now say "(State Capital)"
  • In the Advanced View, if a common viewer is hidden it will now say hidden in brackets next to his or her screen name

I've also started work on a Chance of Error thing for the Location of Last View, which will basically say the chance of error for the location displayed. Only users with the Advanced Info Shown Setting set will be able to see it though, since the explanation given and the whole chance of error system would probabably be too confusing for most people.

Anyway, enjoy the upgrades (although they werent that many, LOL)!!

August 27, 2005 (2:00 AM) - I got back from Canada two days ago (well technically three days since its past 11:59PM), so I'll be making upgrade once again!! :) Here's a list of the upgrades I made the past two days:
  • Added Live Help which can be accessed by going to the Questions/Comments page
  • Added Link on registration page to FAQ which users can go to if they need help
  • Added Link in FAQ to the Questions/Comments page if the FAQs do not answer the users questions
  • Improved the design of the FAQ page
  • Improved the design of the Questions/Comments page
  • Added Number of Views sort option on the two profile owner pages and the main page which displays profile viewers that only profile owners can see/use
  • If you use AOL Explorer on the page which displays the code you need to copy into your profile it will now say "Note: The Select All Button also copies the text in AOL Explorer." rather then "Note: The Select All Button also copies the text in Internet Explorer."
  • Commas now appear after every 3 numbers on the stats page
  • Even if the browser a user uses to see the Advanced View is set to or does not support javascript they will still be able to view the location information (city, state, and country) of the profile viewer (they will still not be able to see the map though, since that requires javascript)
  • Fixed bug in admin only area (which only I can view) which caused problems archiving certain questions/comments
  • Added Help button in footer of Advanced View (next to the change information shown setting button)which when clicked opens up a pop-up which displays information on all the help topics in the advanced view associated with your information shown setting

Enjoy the upgrades! :) Also, I locked the domain trackmyprofile.com, for additional security. I had wanted to do this earlier, but I forgot too... LOL (its not really an upgrade, so I didnt put it in the upgrades list)

August 20, 2005 (10:02 AM) - I made one small upgrade just now - Added Help for Information Shown Setting in Advanced View and made the note more clear (I also changed the text in brackets next to Basic from Default to Recommended)...I'll be going to Canada for 4 days now, so there wont be upgrades for a while...I'll make some more when I come back though :)

August 20, 2005 (12:29 AM) - Finally the new domain - TrackMyProfile.com has been fully setup!! I reserved it a while ago, but I've been kind of lazy to get it all working until today... Anyway, its here now!!!! I have also made some other, really small changes to the site, and added a new topsite link onto the Vote for This Site page.

If anyone was experiencing problems with the "Location of Last View" today, in the advanced view, it was because I forgot to get a new Google Maps API code when I changed the URL (they require you to get a new code for every directory you want to use it in). Sorry, for the slight problem...It's been fixed now!

Anyway, I hope everyone likes the new domain!! It should be a lot eaiser to remember then the old one, which even I had difficulty remembering the beginning...LOL. :)

August 18, 2005 (11:45 PM) - I've made some more upgrades today! Here they are:
  • The "Tell A Friend" link no longer appears when you are on the tell a friend page (there is no point in having the link appear on the the tell a friend page, since you are already on the page that the link would take you to; the link still appears on the other pages)
  • Added Stats Page which can be viewed by clicking the "Check Out Our Stats!" link below the screenshots on the About page
  • When you move your cursor over the "Change Information Shown Setting" link in the advanced view it now changea color like the links on the sidebar, option links for each user, and sort option links
  • Added Help Information on "Bold" on the page where the code/link you put into your profile is displayed (you can view the help information by clicking the question mark next to the bold field)
  • Added Help Information on "Italics" on the page where the code/link you put into your profile is displayed (you can view the help information by clicking the question mark next to the italics field)

Enjoy the upgrades!! :) I'm going to be going to Canada on Saturday for four days, so this may be the last set of upgrades for a while...I might make some tommorow though (but im not sure)...

Also if you look at the previous news post, it has the same date as this one, thats because I posted it around 12:45AM so it was techincally today, but the upgrades listed there (except for the ones made within the 45 minutes) where really yesterday's and the day before's upgrades.

August 18, 2005 (12:15 AM) - I made some more upgrades the past two days! Here they are:
  • You can now change the Info Shown Setting in the Advanced Viewby clicking the "Change Information Shown Setting" button on the bottom right
  • You can no longer change the Info Shown Setting on the main page displayed when you first open up the Advancced View (i dont know if u'd call that an upgrade, but it makes it less confusing...)
  • Improved session handeling procesdors in Advanced View to redcuce database load
  • Fixed bug in the Advanced View that caused the hidden users (if any) to be unsorted when the Number of Views sort option is selected
  • Fixed bug that caused certain javcascript to be shown when F2 was presssed in the main page and profile owner pages that are viewed in the AIM Profile window (this bug actually happened because until today, when OVER KILL 987654 told me about this, I didnt know that when you press F2 in pages opened in the profile window it shows the text between <-- and -->)

Also I added a banner (thx for designing the banner OVER KILL 987654) to the Advanced View to try promoting the forum, and removed the side frame in the forum (since there are no longer banner ads on the site; this is temporary)....I didn't really think that was an upgrade, which is why I didn't put it in the upgrades list.

Anyway, Enjoy the Upgrades!! :) I also started working on a stats page...theres a preview in the forum.

August 15, 2005 (11:52 PM) - I made a fair bit of upgrades, considering that its only been one day! LOL...I've been home the whole day except for about 1 and half hours in the afternoon, so I've had a lot of time to program... Anyway here are todays upgrades:
  • Fixed bug in the advanced view which caused profile viewers on the sidebar to be unsorted if a sort option is not selected
  • Fixed bug in advanced view which caused sort settings to sometimes be incorrectly recorded
  • Fixed bug in advanced view which caused the profile viewers to be unsorted on the sidebar when number of views is selected as the sorting option
  • The sort option in the advanced view that you are currently using is now not a link (so you can tell which one is selected)
  • When you move your cursor over the sort options in the advanced view(that are links) they now change color like the links on the sidebar and the option links for each user
  • Improved security in advanced view
  • Added some more meta tags on the main pages (index, register, new code, news, etc.) to help increase search engine ranking
  • Fixed one of the meta tags that was giving incorrect information

Enjoy! :)

August 14, 2005 (11:16 PM) - I know its only been one day (well, actually in a way its closer to two days, since the last news post was made at 1:11 in the morning on the 13th, so it was close to the 12th, and this is one is being made at around 11:15, so its close to the 15th) but I still made a TON of upgrades to the Advanced View! Here they are:
  • Fixed bug in Advanced View which caused the Advanced View to be unviewable for people whose browser does not support frames but supports iframes (it was suppose to work for people whose browser only support iframes yesterday, but I made a slight mistake in the programming of it which has now been fixed; also the advanced view does not work with people whose browser does not support iframes and does not support frames yet, this will be added soon though)
  • Improved Security in Advanced View
  • Added Screen Tips which say "View Information About USER" for the links on the sidebar in the Advanced View
  • Added Screen Tips in Advanced View for user options (Add to Buddy List, Send Message, Hide/Unhide, Delete)
  • Added (?) next to "Location of Last View" in the Advanced View which when clicked gives more information about what the "Location of Last View" tells and shows
  • Fixed a Bug in the Advanced View that caused links to stay the color they should be only while the mouse is over them even when the mouse was moved away in Internet Explorer(if you disabled Javascript you would not have noticed this)
  • Fixed Bug in the Advanced View which caused parts of the bottom two frames to be unreadable (without using the mouse to scroll down) in Internet Explorer
  • Fixed Bug in the Advanced View which caused only the state to be shown (it is suppose to show the state and in brackets the state abbrevation) in the row for the state on the map window when the window on the map was closed and re-opened or the icon was clicked
  • Added Message that appears on the sidebar in the advanced view if no one has viewed your profile (or you have deleted everyone on your list) - "You currently have no profile viewers."
  • Added Message that appears on the sidebar in the advanced view if you have no unhidden profile viewer(s) but have hidden profile viewer(s) - "You currently have no unhidden profile viewers."
  • Made a really small upgrade to the Admin Area (which only I can view) to help improve user managment

Enjoy the upgrades! :) Also, I removed the banner ad code since google cancelled my account (see previous posts) and a page cannot be displayed error was showing up in place of them in ceratin browsers. I'll probably sign up for Commission Junction soon, because I dont think there much hope in getting my google adsense account back...

August 13, 2005 (1:11 AM) - Somehow I am able to stay up this late with no caffine...I usally stay up late like this, but thats only because I drink a lot of caffine in the night...today for a change i didnt have any caffene, but I'm somehow still up! LOL. Anyway:

Yes it's finally here!!! - The Advanced View has at last been launched! The Advanced View can only be seen by profile owners, to go to it click on the more options or more user info link in your profile (after clicking the link you placed in your profile). A window will then open up in your browser where you can see more information about your viewers such as their location (mapped on Google Maps), information about all their views (not just the last), weather they are online or offline, and much more! If you have any problems with the Advanced View, feel free to head over to the questions/comments page or forum and post a message!

I hope everyone enjoys the upgrade!! :)

Also on another note, google took of the ads from the site. I read some other blog posts about account disabling online at it seems that I wont be able to get my Google AdWords account back, so I think I'll just sign up for Commition Junction, but for right now the site is ad-free.

August 11, 2005 (10:57 PM) - A few weeks ago I signed up for google ad-words to make some revenue (and maybe even profit) for this site. It was going pretty well this month, until now. I got this email from google saying that my account was de-activated for invalid clicks, the thing is though I did not click on any of the ads myself and did not use any tools to have the ads automatically clicked. Google, though claims that I did. I'm gonna send an e-mail to google and see what happens, otherwise I think I'll sign up for commission junction....so theres no point clicking the ads now. I'll make another post after I have sorted this whole thing out.

August 9, 2005 (5:41 PM) - So far today, the only thing I've worked on (as far as the AIM Tracker) is the Advanced View. I think I'll be able to launch it by Friday...there's a link to a preview in the Forum. Anyway, I made one upgrade yesterday - Commas are now placed between every 3 numbers when showing the number of views for each user in the more user infomormation page (only viewable to profile owners) and on the bottom of the main page where it says the total number of views (profile owners cannot see the total number of views on the main page, they must go to the more user information page to see this).

Also, I reserved the domain trackmyprofile.com yesterday. It'll take some time to propagate though (in other words it wont work properly until 2 or 3 days). And after its finished propagating I need to setup the domain to work with the site. So the domain will probably be ready by Friday too!

August 6, 2005 (11:43 PM) - (takes another sip of coke while watching comedy centrel)..I LOVE PROGRAMMING WHILE WATCHING TV AND DRINKING COKE!! LOL...Anyway, I've been spending most of time working on the Advanaced View (theres a link to the preview in the forum), but I did make some upgrades the past few days:
  • Added a Message that appears when a profile owner hides or unhides a screen name on the more options page
  • Whenever a user views the support our site page (that popups on the main page of the site sometimes or that can be opened by clicking the important message button in the top right of the main page) the users ip address is recorded into a database, and for 1 month whenever a user with that ip views the main page, the support our site page will not automatically pop-up (this is an addition to cookies because some people may have cookies disabled, may delete their cookies often, or they may use a dial-up connection in which their ip address frequently changes)
  • A bug in the news comments which allowed injection of code has been fixed - thx for showing me this bug comexk!
  • The design of the page which displays the comments made has been improved
  • A bug fixed, which, if exploited, could cause the same screen name to appear multiple times on the profile viewers list (on both the main page that others see when they click the link in your profile, and the profile owner only pages) - thx comexk for showing me this bug too :)
  • Fixed the spelling of ads (I spelled it as adds, with two d's rather then one) on the support our site popup and the register page (i cant really spell, lol)
  • Fixed a bug which allowed users to inject code under Users Recently Entered on the register and new code pages when a screen name which contained the code was typed in (and cookies were enabled)
  • When you submit a news comment the time you submitted it is now recorded and when you view news comments the time it was submitted is displayed (i think i ment to do this before, but just forgot to add the code to record the time, lol, also the two news comments currently on the site say Unknown next to the time/date since at the time they were made the time/date they were submitted was not recorded)
  • Added a Forum to discuss suggsetions, quetsions/comments, or whatever you want
  • Fixed bug in Admin Area (which only i can access)
  • Added Vote for This Site button on bottom of all pages (except the main index page you first see when you visit the site) which, when clicked, will improve our ranking on a AIM Topsite
  • Improved Security

Hope everyone enjoyes the upgrades! :)

August 2, 2005 (11:08 PM) - I made a slight error in coding some upgrades yesterday, so you might have seen some error messages appear on the tracker when you clicked certain links yesterday. Sorry :( Anyway, the problem has been fixed!

I'll post a list of upgrades soon, although I havn't really made very many. I've been working on created an Advanced View which will allow profile owners to click a link in their AIM Profile to open a browser window which would display addition information about the users who viewed his/her profile. I expect to finish the advanced view in no later then 2 weeks. :)

July 26, 2005 (11:32 PM) - I know I already made a news post today, but I made some more upgrades, so I've decided to post another one! I think I'm going to start making a news and upgrades post every day I make an upgrade, rather then just making one big news post every 5 or 6 days. Anyway, here's a list of upgrades:
  • Pop-up added on index page which asks users to help support the site by clicking on the banner adds (a cookie is saved when the pop-up is viewed, so it wont come again, unless you delete your cookies, or dont have cookies enabled, for about another month)
  • A link on the top right corner (under the version number) has been added which opens up the "help support our site by clicking on the adds" page as a popup (the same one that appears as a popup on the index page, that i talked about in the last bullet)
  • On the page where the code you need to copy to your profile is displayed, if you move your cursor over the question marks next to fields, or the text under related help, the cursor now changes to a pointer as it would do with a normal link (earlier the cursor just remained normal when you moved your cursor over these links)
  • Added ICRA (which is a website content rating organization) rating to site
  • Added SafeSurf (which is another website content rating organization) rating to site
  • Made site closer to W3C's HTML 4.1 Transitional Standard

BTW, the purpose of rating things is just to allow users who have certain parental blocks set to view the site. It won't make a difference to anyone who can already view the site.

ENJOY THE UPGRADES!!

July 26, 2005 (11:21 AM) - I've havn't really made many upgrades today (since its only 11:20AM, and I usally program in the night), but I made a fair bit of upgrades the past six days... Here's a list:

  • Improved Admin Area (which only I can access) so I can manage the FAQs more easily
  • Added Sort option on main page, and the two pages that only profile owners can see (the sort option you last picked for a certain profile is also remembered, so when you visit that profile again, that sort option will be selected by default)
  • An e-mail is now automtically sent to the e-mail address which submitted the question/comment on the questions/commnets page, telling them that I will respond to their question/comment ASAP
  • A bug in the admin area (which only I can access) which sometimes caused questions/comments to be deleted while in the process of archiving them, has been fixed
  • A problem in the formatting of e-mails sent for question/comment replies and tell a friend via e-mail has been fixed (although this problem did not cause any issues for users of major e-mail servecies, gmail and yahoo to be specific, and probably also msn, although i only tested it with yahoo and gmail, it might have caused problems for users of smaller e-mail services)
  • Bug which sometimes caused an error to be returned when trying to delete certain users from the profile viewers list has now been fixed (I may have done this before, and just forgot to make a news post about it,lol....)
  • Improved Security

If anyone was experiencing some problems with the tracker yesterday, that was because a small coding error, its been fixed now, so there shouldn't be any problems anymore... Enjoy the upgrades!

Also, before I went to camp I forgot to post the upgrades I made. I finally found the list of upgrades, it may not be complete, but here it is:

  • Added tell a friend page where users can tell other friends about this site via aim
  • Fixed bug which sometimes caused profile owners username to appear unhidden to himself/herself if he/she uses certain types of screen name formatting
  • Made a TON of improvments to the admin area (which only I can access) to allow me to more quickly and efficently respond to questions and comments and improve user managment
  • A column with the recently entered users now appears on the registration and new link pages, this column shows the users which where recently entereed on your computer (via cookies)
  • A bug (which if we recived a lot of questions and comments could have turned into a massicve problem had it not been fixed) has been fixed with the questions and comments processing
  • A slight improvment (that probably wont be noticable to most people) has been made to the questions and comments page so that if it is taking a long time for your question/comment to be proccessed, a message will display saying that your message is being processed
  • Banner adds have been added to all the pages on the site to make a little revenue

July 19, 2005 (9:06 PM) - I made a fair bit of upgrades over the 4 days. Here's a list of the upgrades made:
  • Fixed Major Bug which could have allowed people to inject html and php code into the main page and profile owner pages
  • Fixed Bug which sometimes caused users to see an error when they tryed hiding or unhiding certain usres
  • Added News Comments option which allows users to submit comments on news posts (i'm still working on making some more improvments to this though)
  • An e-mail is now sent to the sender on the tell a friend page (when the ""Via E-mail" Form is used) thanking them for sending a message to a friend (this is an addition to the message sent to the friend with a link to this site)
  • The Send the url to a friend via email form also changes the email text slightly based on the fields that are filled out (for example if you filled out your name and e-mail, on the bottom of the page it will say from [your name], but if you only filled out your e-mail it will say from [your email])
  • the admin area (which only I can access) has been imrpoved to provide better and more efficent user managment

I havn't really made any upgrades to the actual pages viewed in the AIM Profile (except for fixing those bugs), most of them have been for the website. I'll make some solid upgrades the the actual pages viewed in the AIM Profile soon though... I hope everyone enjoyes the upgrades :)

July 15, 2005 (11:40 PM) - I got back from camp at around 5PM today, so I'll be getting back to programming and making upgrades. I dont exactly remember the upgrades I made before and forgot to post about, i think i wrote them down somewhere though, LOL. I'll post the upgrades I made before and forgot to post about once I find the list. Anyway, the only upgrades I made today were, additional banner adds on the registration page to help increase the revenue I'm making (which so far, in the past 3 weeks has only been about $0.90, lol), and an option to tell a friend about this site via email on the tell a friend page. I'll make so more upgrades soon though :)

June 25, 2005 (8:23 AM) - This service was having a TON of problems yesterday. I apologize. Lunarpages, the company that hosts this site switched us to a different server (basically what happened was, we were using an excessive amount of cpu, so lunarpages switched us to a not-as-good server, and yesterday they switched us back) and they didn't copy our database, where the user information is stored, from the other server to this one properly. Anyway, everything should be fine now! Also, I'm going to be going to camp for 3 week, so I'll be unable to make upgrades to the site. I may also be unable to answer questions/comments but I'll see if I can find someone else to temperarly to that.

June 23, 2005 (2:47 PM) - I (well technically my dad, since im under 18) signed up for Google AdSense today, hence the adds on the site. I'm really happy I finally convinced my dad to sign up! Google should be sending me a check every month, provided I get at least $100 from ads. Otherwise it will go over to next month, and once I get $100 worth of banner add clicks, google will send the check. I'm so happy, I'll finally be earning money from something I created myself!!

June 22, 2005 (12:34 PM) - Just about 30 minutes ago, I accidently deleted the whole AIM Track directory. Luckily there was a backup of the main files although some of the files (that were not very important) and a lot of admin files were deleted. I AM SO DAMN annoyed! LOL. Anyway, the tracker was down for about 15 minutes. I apologize. So now I have the annoying task of reprogramming the code that was deleted....

June 17, 2005 (10:36 PM) - The server this tool is hosted on seems to be working at a reasonable speed again, although problems like this will probably occur every now and then until I upgrade to a dedicated server which I expect to do this Thursday, after school ends!

June 17, 2005 (9:56 PM) - I have not yet posted the upgrades I have made recently.. I'll do that later. Anyway, you may have noticed that our server has been running slowly the past few minutes. This is because this tool is growing REALLY FAST, which is a good thing. There are already over 150 registered users, and this tool has only been here for a little over a month. The only problem is that this tool is hosted on a shared server, so other sites share the server's resources with it. I'm planning to upgrade to a dedicated server on Thursday, if I can convince my dad that its worth the $100 a month that is... LOL. I think/hope I'll be able to convince him...

June 12, 2005 (1:38 AM) - Alas, my Coke, which was keeping me awake till this time, is over (theres more downstairs, but I'm lazy to go down). LOL. Anyway, I have made some upgrades over the past 12 days (most of them are related to the actual webpage rather then the AIM tool though, although the upgrades are not that complex, they took a ton of time to make, actually as far as time spent this is the biggest upgrade). As with the past 2 times though, I have been lazy to post about them until now. LOL... Anyway here is a list of upgrades:
  • Styles Launched with 3 style options: Default, Random, or PrettyPink
  • An About Page which gives information on this tool and screenshots, has been added
  • Added a Select All button under the code given when you register or request a new link, which selects all the code, and also copies it in Internet Explorer
  • I have improved the design of the page the code/link is given on and made it more user-friendly and easy to use
  • Added Message that appears on the More Information page, telling profile owners that all the times are in Eastern Time
  • Made many significant improvments to security
  • Added Tutorial which shows users how to add code/link to profile (there is a link for this tutorial on the page which dispalys the code/link you need to copy into your profile)
  • Added description of link text, font size, and style (for people who don't know what the link text, font size, or stlye is) which can be viewed on the page that display the code/link you need to copy into your profile
  • Made HTML more proper according to W3C HTML 4.1 Transitional Standard
  • The index page now remembers if you chose to show more page links. When you visit the page again the option you previously selected will be selected by default (so if you chose more the previous time you went to the index page, the page will by default the next time you visit it display more page links)
  • Information on your browser is now collected when you register, this information would be used to help ensure that this site looks proper on users browsers
  • Information, such as the ip, browser info, link text chosen, font size chosen, etc. is now collected every time a user generates a code/link, this information will be used to find out if there are any bugs in the script
  • Fixed a TON of bugs in admin area
  • Added a TON of new features that will improve the managment of users, make upgrades more efficent and quick, and allow me to better reply to questions and comments submitted by users

In additional to this, I have started working on another tutorial for viewing your own profile, and starting working on a time zone option which would allow users to set their time zone and display the times based on the time zone selected.

I hope everyone enjoyes these upgrades!! BTW, I'm planning to get a proper domain for this tool in August.

For some reason I'm still not tired.... LOL. I guess its because I had a lot of coke! :)

May 31, 2005 (12:58 AM) - I have made a TON of upgrades the past 6 six days, except like before, I've been lazy to makes a news post about them. Anyway, this is by far, the biggest set of upgrades I have made. Here is a list of all the changes/upgrades I made:
  • The last selected "exclude you"/"include you" option for the total profile views on the more information page is now saved into a database and retrieved every time a profile owner views the more use information page. This way if a profile owner selected the include you option or exclude you option for the total views the last time they viewed the more user information page, the next time they view the profile owner page, the option that they previously selected for the total profile views will be selected as the default.
  • Improved Security
  • Added error messages that appear when a user adds code to his/her profile without registering or adds an improper code
  • Added a hide/unhide option in the more options page, which allows profile owners to hide certain users from the list of profile viewers of the main page (it will still appear to the person you have hidden that he/she is on the profile viewers lists since their screen name will be visible on the main page when they view the main page, the only exception to this is the profile owner-if the profile owner hides himself/herself they will not be able to see themselves on the main page list even if they themselves view the main page). The profile owner's screen name is also hidden by default, unlike the other screen names which are unhidden by default.
  • On the bottom of the main page the total amount of views for all the screen names listed is displayed (the profile owner does not see this though, he/she can view the total amount of profile views on the more user information page)
  • Added a message that displays when a user has no profile views listed on the main page
  • If a user clicks the "Add this to your Profile!" button on the bottom of any of the pages, and registers their screen name after clicking that link, the person whose link they clicked will also be recorded into the database. This will allow us to see which users are referring a lot of people to the script (eventually we may decide to use this information to create an awards system, but for the time being there is none in place)
  • Added an Undo Delete option which allows profile owners to undo a delete if they accidentally delete a user on the more user options page
  • The time/date that you deleted a user is now stored in a database (along with all the information deleted), so that in the future we could have an option to restore all deleted users from X date in the admin area, which only I can access, in case of problems)
  • The link/code given to copy into your profile when you register or get a new link is now read only (meaning you cannot edit it, and can only change the font size and link text via the font size and link text fields)
  • Fixed bug that occurs when the Link Text used when registering or getting a new link contains, double quote(s) ("), single quote(s) ('), less then symbol(s) (<), more then symbol(s) (>), or html code
  • Fixed two bugs in Admin Area (well, actually, its more like one bug which is on two different pages)
  • Added Meta Tags to help make script more "search engine friendly"
  • Slightly Improved Design for News Page

I better get back to my homework now. I didn't have school today, since it was Memorial Day, but I'll be having school tomorrow (well, technically, today since its past 11:59PM) and it’s already 12:58AM. LOL...

I hope everyone enjoys these new upgrades! :) I also changed the version number to 0.7 since a lot of upgrades have been made.

May 24, 2005 (12:40 AM) - I have made a lot of changes the past few days, except I've been lazy to make news posts about them. LOL. Anyway, apart from the new design (which should be a lot eaiser to navigate and also looks alot nicer now) here is a list of upgrades I have made:
  • Bug fixed which prevented users with upper case characters from viewing the profile owner pages
  • Bug fixed which sometimes caused the text on pages to be incorrectly displayed (ex/in italics, bold, in a different font, or with a backround color other then the one intended)
  • Bug fixed with time system that caused any time starting with 12 and ending with PM to be displayed as 0:__PM rather then 12:__PM
  • Modified script so screen name formating changes are detected (if a user changes the formating of his/her name and viewes your profile again, the script will apply the formatting changes to the username on the list)
  • Added Option for the Total Number of Profile Views on more user information page (which is only accessible to the profile owner) which allows the user to display the total profile views including himself/herself or excluding himself/herself
  • More Information such as the IP Address and time of every single view is now recorded in our database (we are planning to use this data for upgrades later on)
  • Modified Code to Allow Eaiser Upgrades in the Future
  • Improved news managment in admin area (which only i can access) which will allow me to more efficently create news posts
  • Improved user mamangment tools in admin area (which only i can access)

Also note that a lot of progress has been made on the styles system, and it should be ready no later then the end of June and that I have changed the script version to 0.5 (since a LOT of changes have been made to the script from version 0.01).

I hope everyone enjoyes these new upgrades and the new design! :)

May 20, 2005 (4:29 PM) - I made a slight coding error about 5 hours ago (during our lunch break in school), so the AIM Profile View script has been giving errors for the past 5 hours. Anyway, I have fixed this problem, and it should be working without errors now. :) I apologize for the inconvenience.

Add Comment No Comments

May 19, 2005 (12:04 AM) - I have made another large set of upgrades today! I have modified the script to sort the profile viewers listed on the main page and the two pages only viewable to profile owners by the last view time/date that that profile viewer viewed your profile (and pressed the link). The profile viewer who most recently viewed your profile's name will appear on the top, and after him/her the second most recent, then third most recent, etc. The users whose last view time/date is unknown will appear below those users whose last view time/date is known. I have also upgraded the time recording/retrieving system to record view times and retrieve view times at a much faster rate, therefore decreasing page load times. Due to the upgrades made to the time recording/retrieving system, all the times/dates of users whose last view time/date was recorded before 8:30PM today have been erased and set to "unknown". I apologize for this inconvenience, but it was required for the upgrade. I have also, in addition to all of these changes, made a lot of progress on the styles system, and finally (after many days of work) finished the upgrades for the admin area that allow more efficient upgrading of this script.

May 16, 2005 (11:48 PM) - Although you may not have noticed any changes today, I have done a lot of work on the script, most of it not yet finished though (which is why most of the work I did today cannot be seen yet) and some of it to improve user management and the admin area (which you would not be able to notice either). I did fix a bug with the "Last Viewed On" display on the more user information page, but that’s about it as far as noticeable changes. As far as changes that you wouldn't be able to notice yet (since they are not finished) I've started working on a new system that can generate statistics for things such as average amount of views per day, average amount of unique screen name views per day, etc., and a new style system, which would allow users to select a style for their profile view list (different styles will have different backrounds/backround colors, link colors, text colors, etc.). Neither of these features have been completed yet. I will probably finish the style system in no later then a week, but the statistics system requires a lot more complex coding, and could take a while. In addition to this, I also continued work on improving the admin area (which only I can view) to allow more efficient upgrading and made some changes to improve user management.

May 15, 2005 (11:53 PM) - I have made a ton of upgrades today! The screen names on the options page (which can only be viewed by the profile owner) are now numbered, as in the user information page (which can only be viewed by the profile owner) and the main profile viewers page. I have also added a link at the bottom of the user information and options pages that links back to the main page. When this link is used, the script does not count the view as another view and the "Number of Views" next to your name will remain the same. In addition to this I have also modifyed the script to record the date and time of the last profile view by a given user. This information can be viewed by the profile owner on the user information page. The script did not record the date and time of the latest view earlier, so next to all the screen names who have not viewed your profile after this upgrade, the text "Unknown" will be displayed. I have also continued work on better admin controls to improve the effincy of upgrading the scipt.

May 14, 2005 (6:30 PM) - I have made several improvements to the profile viewer and profile owner interface. The profile viewer and profile owner interfaces now display "(you)" next to the profile viewers'/profile owner's screen name, and the screen names on the more user information page (which can only be accessed by the profile owner) are now numbered, as they have been on the profile viewers' interface from the last upgrade. In addition to this, I have started working on some upgrades to the admin area (which only I can access) that will allow me to more quickly and efficiently make upgrades.

May 10, 2005 (12:58 AM) - For some reason I love programming in the night (while listening to my IPOD), which is why I almost always make news posts in the night. LOL. Anyway, I have improved the profile owner interface (the extra options you see when you view your own AIM profile view list, after registering and copying the code given into your profile) and the profile viewer interface (the list of profile viewers other users see when they view your profile and click the profile viewers link). The profile owner interface now shows the total number of views your profile has received and the total number of unique users who have viewed your profile and the users are numbered in the profile viewers’ interface. I also made a slight change which prevents the profile owners’ username from appearing on the list of users seen by profile viewers, but it still appears on the additional user information page visible to profile owners. In addition to this, I have made some slight changes to the register and new code pages to better report errors with usernames (you probably won't even notice these changes) and give more clear instructions, made some changes to the admin area (which only I can view) to allow better management of users and mass-register (meaning automated registering or intentional registering of many fake users by the same person) detection, fixed an extremely small bug in the news section (which is what you're viewing now), and made a slight change to the text that appears on top of your profile viewers list (it now says "My Profile has been viewed by", rather then "This Profile has been viewed by).

Currently this script doesn’t support screen names with spaces. I should be fixing that shortly though, probably within 1 week.

May 9, 2005 (12:08 AM) - I have made the Questions/Comments from more "user-friendly" and also added some spam controls. In addition to this I have improved the user managment system to better cope with large amounts of users and also made some minor changes.

May 8, 2005 (1:18 AM) - I have made some changes to the questions/comments page to make it eaiser to manage (the change can only be noteced by the admin who is me), and also made some minor changes (which can be seen by users).
